"HOW THE BODY HEALS"
Bill Morgan, B.S.M.E. Mechanical Engineering , gave a presentation titled, "HOW BODIES HEAL: Sticks and stones may break your bones, but cuts and bones do heal." While this talk is intellectually stimulating for adults, Bill's specialty is communicating complex concepts in terms a child can easily grasp and understand.
About our speaker: Bill Morgan has been a mechanical design engineer for the U.S. Navy for 30+ years. He also leads the Creation Science Fellowship of Calvary Chapel WestGrove, in Garden Grove, California. Before founding the Creation Science Fellowship of Calvary Chapel WestGrove, Bill served as vice-president of the former Creation Science Association of Orange County for nearly a decade and a half. He has developed a comic book format which communicates Creation vs Evolution issues that are easily understood by junior high and high school students. Bill frequently stands on public sidewalks outside public schools, passing out comic books to eager students. Bill has publically debated nineteen (at last count) Evolutionists, and has delivered more than 1,000 talks on Creation versus Evolution to youth groups, university classrooms, and adult groups across California and in other states. We watched a YouTube video recording of a guest lecture given November 18, 2018, at the National Institutes of Health by Geneticist, Dr. John Sanford.
About our Speaker: As a Cornell University professor, John has conducted genetic research for over 40 years. This research has resulted in more than 100 scientific publications and several dozen patents. In addition to producing numerous new crop varieties, John's research resulted in new genetic engineering technologies. A large fraction of the transgenic crops grown in the world today involved use of the biolistic “gene gun” process, of which John was the primary inventor. (Dr. Sanford's Biolostic Particle Gun, Prototype III is on display at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.)
John feels his most significant contributions to science have been: 1) the Biolistic Process; 2) the book Genetic Entropy and the Mystery of the Genome; 3) Development of Mendel's Accountant (the most advanced and biologically realistic numerical simulation of the mutation/selection process); and (4) the Cornell symposium and subsequently published proceedings entitled Biological Information--New Perspectives. About our speaker: Kyle Justice is the Emmy nominated producer of many creation science DVDs and programs. He is the father of eight children, the oldest being Noah Justice. Kyle has been married for over twenty-five years to Dawn Justice. Kyle and Dawn homeschool, incorporating most of the kids into the travel, shooting, and marketing of their DVD titles. As they travel in their 27’ motorhome, the kids learn about production, photography, science, geography, public speaking, and public relations. Their brand of creation videos is under the label of Awesome Science Media. Many of their video titles are used for science education in the church, Christian schools, and home school programs.
As a teenager, Kyle Justice began producing television projects in the mid 1980s. He and his twin brother were inspired by their father’s hobby of filmmaking. During his high school years, Kyle heard a presentation on evidence for Creation and the Bible from Dr. Donald Chittick and dreamed one day of producing documentaries on the same subject. Through the 1990s Kyle worked for Moody Bible Institute, The Family Channel, and Regent University.
In 1997, together with the newly formed Answers in Genesis ministry, Kyle produced his first creation science DVD project, The X-Nilo Show. In 1999 Kyle became an independent television producer, creating content for major networks such as ESPN, National Geographic, the Outdoor Channel, Fox Sports, and Comcast SportsNet. Kyle continued producing creation science programming by developing “The Creation Network,” a weekly program airing nationally on Sky Angel during 2000–2001.
In 2010 the Justice family took a 25-day road trip across the western United States, visiting several national parks. Kyle took his production gear and shot footage of the parks, as well as Noah in front of the camera talking about various geologic formations from a Biblical worldview. After coming back, they developed the first four episodes of Awesome Science and obtained Master Books as a distributor. During this time Kyle also began working with Dr. Steve Austin and Michael Oard to produce a series of DVDs on Flood geology, including the topics of Mount St. Helens, the Ice Age, and the Missoula Flood. Based on the success of these DVDs, the family began producing additional episodes of Awesome Science, The Heavens Declare series, the Creeping Things series, and the Debunking Evolution DVD. They have many more titles in development and post-production including topics on animals, dinosaurs, and applied science. Some of these projects may include Noah’s other siblings as hosts.
The Justice family is adventurous and dedicated to serving God in the area of media ministry, with a focus on science and the Bible. About our speakers: Dr. Gay Zambrona is a 1991 graduate of the Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine. She fulfilled an externship at the London Zoo. Practicing full-time small animal and exotics medicine in the Long Beach/West Orange County area since 1991. Part-time clinical and consulting positions in laboratory animal medicine for 15 years. Husband Dan Zambrano has a B.S. in Marine Biology from Cal State Long Beach. He is a Licensed Registered Veterinary Technician. He has worked at Cabrillo Aquarium, the Los Angeles Harbor Dept., California State Fish & Game Dept., and the L.A. Zoo before partnering in the mobile veterinary practice with his wife.
Both Dan and Gay are Ordained Pastors in the Free Methodist Church. They love teaching and preaching the Word of God to people of ALL AGES. They have worked with students from 4th & 5 th graders, through High School, College, and beyond!

Daniel’s professional background includes training as a behavioral scientist (Ph.D. Industrial-Organizational Psychology) and 20 years’ experience in expert witness consulting/testimony in state/federal cases involving statistical research methods and psychometrics. Daniel maintains an executive role in two HR consulting and test development firms.

About our speaker: Joseph Kezele studied the sciences and music at the University of Arizona, while earning his B.A. in Russian in 1971, and his M.D. in 1975. He then completed a Pediatric Residency and practiced Emergency Medicine for 25 years in the Phoenix area, and was a diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He is now retired from the practice of medicine, serves as President of the Arizona Origin Science Association, is Adjunct Professor at Arizona Christian University in Phoenix, teaching Human Genetics, Cell and Molecular Biology, Pathophysiology, Organic Chemistry and Creation Science Apologetics. Dr, Kezele has also been named a Logos Research Associate. He serves as Chairman of Deacons and teaches Creation Science Evangelism at Black Mountain Baptist Church in Cave Creek, Arizona. He has participated in over 20 foreign mission trips, teaching medicine, standard evangelism and creation science evangelism in India, Zambia, Mexico, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, the Ukraine, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Armenia. Dr. Kezele is one of the principle presenters in the Institute for Creation Research’s 4 DVD series Made in His Image. This past May, he returned to the Ukraine for three intense weeks of teaching Creation Science Apologetics and Evangelism as part of the activities prompted by the proclamation of the President of the Ukraine recognizing the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther's sparking the Reformation in Germany.

The Human Genome: ENCODED by Design
Fazale "Fuz" Rana. Ph.D. (Chemistry) gave a presentation titled, "The Human Genome: ENCODED by Design."
Many people think that the most compelling evidence for human evolution is the shared junk DNA sequences found in corresponding regions of the genomes of humans and the Great Apes. Why would a Creator introduce identical nonfunctional DNA sequences in these genomes? On the other hand, if these genomes represent the outworking of an evolutionary history, then the shared features evince common descent. But what if these junk DNA sequences are actually functional? They could be understood as evidence for common design.
Remarkably over the course of the last decade, biologists have come to learn that virtually every class of junk DNA has function, culminating with the publication of the Phase 2 results of the ENCODE (Encyclopedia of DNA Elements) project in 2011. These results indicated that minimally 80 percent of the human genome consists of functional elements. Subsequent work indicates that this percentage will only increase. The ENCODE project has radically changed the way we view the human genome. Instead of representing a collage of evolutionary vestiges, it appears to be an elegantly designed system.
Attendees learned how ENCODE has turned one of the greatest challenges to the Christian faith into one of the most compelling reasons to believe.

Fuz converted to Christianity during graduate school. Though he initially embraced the evolutionary paradigm, Fuz eventually drew the conclusion that only a Creator’s involvement could explain the elegance of biochemical systems. Today, Fuz writes and speaks extensively about evidence for creation emerging from biochemistry, genetics, human origins, and synthetic biology. He is the author of multiple books, including Dinosaur Blood and the Age of the Earth and The Cell’s Design.

He also has studied Christian Apologetics and Biblical-Scientific Creationism at California Graduate School of Theology where he received his M.A. in Biblical Studies. He holds a Doctorate in Philosophy of Theology (major in philosophy of Biblical apologetics.)Dr. Kindell is the founder and president of Reasons for Faith Ministries, Inc., a non-profit ministry dedicated to equipping Christian believers to “give every man an answer” for their Biblical faith. Chuck Kinzie, B.A. (Philosophy), gave a presentation titled, "SCIENCE IS POSSIBLE ONLY IF THE BIBLE IS TRUE."
Chuck's presentation was based on the Transendental Argument for the existence of God (TAG) presuppositional apologetic articulated by Drs. Cornelius van Til and Greg Bahnsen. The argument points out that only the biblical Christian worldview accounts for the preconditions that allow us to make sense of the world around us. While other worldviews marshal the laws of nature, the laws of logic, and the laws of morality to support their positions, they cannot account for the existence of such non-material, universal, invariant entities, and therefore cannot justify their own arguments. Only the God of the Bible, whose fear is the beginning of wisdom, accounts for the intelligibility of the universe, and for the abilities of humans to engage the clues and thought algorithms that give us science and rationality. As TAG concludes, the ultimate proof that God exists is that without Him, one cannot prove anything.

Speaking of logic, the United States Chess Federation rates Chuck as a chess EXPERT. Born again in 1988, Chuck publicly proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ in open-air venues, primarily in Orange County.

SPECIAL EVENT: Creation/Intelligent Design-themed whale watch with Captain Dave's Dolphins and Whales at Dana Point. A great time with Lad Alan, of Illustra Media and David Coppedge of Creation Safaris. We saw lots of dolphins, including members of a community that has recently acquired a new learned behavior, rolling over on their backs while feeding on schools of fish. Dolphins are highly intelligent creatures which can be trained by humans to perform tricks. Interestingly, they appear to also be capable of innovation, and of passing ideas, such as this new style of feeding, on to fellow dolphins. This is an example of animal culture.
Unfortunately, too few of us signed up for this special cruise, so we didn't get the large boat with underwater viewing pods. None-the-less, a good time, and good fellowship, was enjoyed by all.

Earthquakes and Famines in Early Roman History: Evidence from Microfacies Analysis of Laminated Mud of the Dead Sea, Israel.
Steve Austin, Ph.d., Geology, spoke on, "Earthquakes and Famines in Early Roman History: Evidence from Microfacies Analysis of Laminated Mud of the Dead Sea, Israel."
The Nahal Ze’elim fan delta is situated east of the Masada fault at the southwest corner of the north basin of the Dead Sea. It is one of the Dead Sea’s largest fan deltas, where, at a depth of just over 3 m, laminated lake mud from the Early Roman Period occurs. Several gully exposures allowed us to identify three facies associated with the Early Roman Period. Earthquakes produced turbulent mixing forming seismites within laminated sand and silt. Earthquakes often produced coherently folded seismites within higher-viscosity, laminated, detrital clays in the distal fan delta and delta slope.
During times of drought, when detritus was completely cut off from the fan delta, calcium ions from groundwater precipitated as a calcium carbonate mineral called aragonite on the lake floor. Multi-year droughts built up stacked white aragonite laminae with only slight traces of intervening wind-blown dust. Early Roman historians record famines from 67 to 62 BC (Onias event described by Josephus), 25 to 23 BC (King Herod’s famine described by Josephus), and 41 to 43 AD (Emperor Claudius’ famine described by Luke in Acts 11:27-30). The Jericho Earthquake of 31 BC (M~7.2) is the largest in the Dead Sea region during the last 2,700 years and is recounted by both Josephus and King Herod. The Jerusalem Earthquake of 33 AD (M~5.5) occurred at the crucifixion of Christ (Matthew 27:51). Regularities within laminae are evident. For example, varve counting suggests Herod's famine prevailed the seventh summer after the Jericho Earthquake. Mud recording these three Roman famines and these two Roman earthquakes comprises an extraordinarily distinctive, 109-year sequence. Furthermore, these laminae appear to be persistent across Nahal Ze'elim fan delta.

He successfully defended a Ph.D. thesis which proposed an unconventional theory for the origin of coal. Shortly thereafter, Mount Saint Helens exploded, blasting an an entire forest of broken trees into Spirit Lake and providing a laboratory demonstration of Steve's theory at work! Steve was a contributing member of the research programs, which proposed and popularized the theories of Catastrophic Plate Tectonics (CPT), and Radioisotopes and the Age of the Earth (RATE). Steve's professional memberships include the Geological Society of America, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the Society for Sedimentary Geology, the International Association of Sedimentologists. He has had professional, peer-reviewed projects at Mt. St. Helens and within the Grand Canyon. He has done extensive research on a mass kill of nautiloids within the Redwall limestone of the Grand Canyon, radioisotopes of Grand Canyon rocks, and earthquake destruction of archaeological sites in the Kingdom of Jordan. Current research is on biblical earthquakes recorded as seismites in Dead Sea sediments. Dr. Austin has published research in the prestigious, peer-reviewed journal International Geology Review.

Bruce Malone, B.S. Chemical Engineering, Executive Director of Search for the Truth Ministries, gave a presentation titled, "BRILLIANT: MADE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD."
Early man is routinely portrayed as a knuckle-dragging, wife-beating, dimwitted ignoramus because it is assumed that he evolved from some sort of ape-like ancestor. Nothing could be farther from the truth. This talk looked at artifacts from ancient cultures to explain how historical mysteries of the past confirm key biblical events such as the creation of mankind, the fall of creation, the worldwide flood, and the dispersion from Babel.
Bruce ended with a presentation of how the evidence for Biblical creation is changing the future of the entire nation of Fiji as every public school student is receiving a book tying Biblical creation to science and history.
About our speaker:
Bruce has 27 years of research experience with the Dow Chemical Corporation but left in 2008 to act as full time Executive Director of Search for the Truth Ministries with the vision of “Awakening Hearts and Minds to Biblical Truth”. This organization widely distributes Bible-affirming creation materials to students and prisoners – giving away an average of 8000 books per year. Bruce has a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and holds 17 patents for new products with Dow Chemical.

Kevin Conover is the host of Educate for Life radio, a weekly program that airs in San Diego, California, on 1210 AM KPRZ and on youtube.com/educateforlifevideo. He’s interviewed many experts including organic synthetic chemist, Dr. James Tour, one of the top 50 scientists in the world, ADF President, CEO, and General Counsel Michael Farris, world renowned brain surgeon, Dr. David Levy, worldwide evangelist Will Graham, expert on human sexuality, Dr. Christopher Yuan, who is also a former homosexual, among many others. He frequently speaks at events on the truth of the Bible and is the founder of Educate for Life, a Christian education ministry, which helps people know why the Bible is the only book that can credibly be called God’s Word. Kevin Conover lives in San Diego with his wife and three kids. He earned his BA from the University of California San Diego where he was also the commencement speaker. He earned a Master's Degree in Divinity from Trinity Biblical University and a Masters Degree in Apologetics from Biola University. He taught Christian apologetics at Horizon Christian High School for four years and was voted by the students as the teacher of the year four years in a row. He is currently in his sixth year of teaching apologetics at Christian High School which is associated with Shadow Mountain Church and Pastor David Jeremiah. Kevin is the founder of Educate for Life. EFL is a Christian non-profit 501c3 ministry. This organization works with young adults to help them know Christ and build their trust in the Bible by using Apologetics to demonstrate the Bible’s credibility. EFL does this by offering Apologetic classes outside of the normal school setting.

About our speaker:
Dr. Bergman has joined the staff at the Institute for Creation Research after recently retiring from teaching biology, biochemistry, and anatomy at Northwest State College in Archbold, Ohio, and was an adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Toledo Medical College. Dr. Bergman has been named a Logos Research Associate. He has 9 degrees, including a Doctorate from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. His over 1,000 publications are in both scholarly and popular science journals. Dr. Bergman’s work has been translated into 13 languages including French, German, Italian, Spanish, Danish, Polish, Czech, Chinese, and Swedish.
His books and, or books that include chapters that he authored, are in over 1,500 college libraries in 27 countries. So far over 80,000 copies of the 40 books and monographs that he has authored or co-authored are in print.
He has spoken over 2,000 times to college, university and church groups in America, Canada, Europe and Africa.

We watched a filmed lecture by Dr. Kurt Wise titled,
"GEOLOGY: FLOOD SEDIMENTOLOGY," recorded at the "IS GENESIS HISTORY?" Conference held June 19-23, 2017 in Nashville, Tennessee. (CLICK title to view lecture.)
The lecture cites many evidences that only a flood of global extent could have laid down the mega-sequences of geologic deposits found around the world today. The Flood was a one-off catastrophic event that produced many features inexplicable in terms of today's slow and gradual processes.
About our Speaker: Kurt Wise earned his Ph.D. in Paleontology from Harvard University under the late evolutionist, Steven J. Gould. Dr. Wise also has an M.A. in Geology from Harvard, and a B.A. in Geology from the University of Chicago.
Dr. Wise is Director of the Creation Research Center of Truett McConnell University in Cleveland, Georgia, and is former Director of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary's Center for Theology and Science. Prior to that, he served as Director of the Center for Origins Research at Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee.
