We watched two movies, Lesson 3 from THE ROCKS CRY OUT series, "Science Testifies to Creation," and the Moody Institute of Science classic, "Of Books and Sloths."

Of Books and Sloths - The sloth. Nature's champion sluggard. One of the most misunderstood animals in the world. As recent as a century and a half ago the sloth was regarded as a "blunder of nature." To capture this story, the Moody Institute of Science did research in the laboratory and in the jungles of Panama. (29 minutes).

About our speaker: After graduating from Yale University, John Doane was a Hertz Fellow at MIT where he obtained a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. He has worked in millimeter-wave technology at Bell Laboratories, the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, and General Atomics. For many years he was on the Board of Directors of Jesus to the Communist World (which later became Voice of the Martyrs). With his wife, Daryl Ann, he is a principal in DeposiTech, Inc., devoted to plasma-based equipment for electronics manufacturing. Dr. Doane is also author of Let God Be True - A Christian's Guide to Origins Science, a Wise Sheep Books publication.

About our speaker: Joseph Kezele studied the sciences and music at the University of Arizona, while earning his B.A. in Russian in 1971, and his M.D. in 1975. He then completed a Pediatric Residency and practiced Emergency Medicine for 25 years in the Phoenix area, and was a diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He is now retired from the practice of medicine, serves as President of the Arizona Origin Science Association, is Adjunct Professor at Arizona Christian University in Phoenix, teaching Human Genetics, Cell and Molecular Biology, Pathophysiology, Organic Chemistry and Creation Science Apologetics. Dr, Kezele has also been named a Logos Research Associate. He serves as Chairman of Deacons and teaches Creation Science Evangelism at Black Mountain Baptist Church in Cave Creek, Arizona. He has participated in over 21 foreign mission trips, teaching medicine, standard evangelism and creation science evangelism in India, Zambia, Mexico, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, the Ukraine, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Armenia. Dr. Kezele is one of the principle presenters in the Institute for Creation Research’s 4 DVD series Made in His Image. Evangelist, Dr. Anthony Silvestro Jr., DDS gave two 45 minute presentations, one titled,

"DISMANTLING THE FOUNDATIONS OF EVOLUTION" pointed up fatal flaws in the evolutionary paradigm.
"THE SOCIAL JUSTICE MOVEMENT" presentation unmasked the underlying Leftist agenda that calls for redistribution of wealth - robbing the rich to give to the poor. Sadly, such coercion requires a controlling, strong-arm government, which robs personal freedoms, and disincentivizes both those who apply ingenuity, risk, and hard work to create wealth, and those to whom it is redistributed.
About our speaker: Dr. Silvestro was once an unsaved evolutionist but now is an avid Biblical creationist – teaching adults and kids alike that God didn’t create man from baboons, and that the Bible can be trusted from beginning to end, starting with the book of Genesis!
As a graduate of Mike Riddle’s Creation College (former AiG speaker), and after years of study, Dr. Silvestro speaks on Biblical Creation and how science supports the Biblical account of creation as well as the age of the earth. Christians have benefitted by his teaching at conferences, youth groups, and Christian radio shows. He will also come to your church to train your church members to teach others through an abbreviated 1 day class or an extended 12-hour training class, whether it is over a two-day weekend or a 12-week period!

Ross Anderson, B.A., M.B.S., Ph.D. , gave a presentation titled,
"EARLY DELVELOPMENT OF THE FRUIT FLY:
Evidence of Design and Forethought."
Summary: When one looks around at all the man-made objects, one knows, almost instinctively, that they are designed. All such objects originate in the mind of someone, then eventually make it to market. All the objects are designed with a purpose in mind and are built according to the specifications of the designer to carry out the purpose.
When we view nature and the many living creatures, great and small, we are constantly told that they are the result of random chance events taking place over large spans of time; there is nothing about them that suggests purposeful design. However, when we look at the very early stages, even before fertilization, of a creature that seems so small and insignificant as a fruit fly, we see clear evidence of purposeful design and forethought. If we can clearly see this in a fruit fly, then we can have greater confidence that we, as humans, are purposefully designed and the evidences are clearly seen by any one who has an open, objective mind.
Jim Pamplin comments: In multi-cellular organisms, like fruit flies and humans, every cell contains the same DNA, yet, during development from fertilized ovum to maturity, cells differentiate into many different kinds, (muscle cells, nerve cells, blood cells and blood vessel cells, etc.). Somehow, each cell becomes informed of its position in the body plan/life plan, in terms of both physical location and time, and develops accordingly. Though all cells share the same DNA, which portions of the DNA are activated and when and to what degree they are activated is controlled by "epigenetic" gene regulators.
Dr. Anderson's presentation showed how, beginning in a fruit fly's egg chamber, regions at each end of the chamber produce different chemical signalling factors. Say, for example, cells at the head end of an egg chamber produce signalling factor A, while cells at the tail end produce signalling factor B. The concentration of A will weaken with distance from the cells that produce Factor A at the head end of the egg chamber; likewise, the concentration of B weakens with distance from the tail end of the egg chamber. By sensing the ratio of A/B concentrations, first the egg, then later new cells in a growing zygote "know" where they are between the head and tail ends of the egg chamber. While all cells have the same DNA, each cell receives different data via differing chemical concentration ratios. Software coded in the DNA accepts the data and processes its pre-programmed instructions accordingly, throttling up some genes and their gene products and throttling down others, differentiating the structure and chemical activity of the cell.
Alas, besides Factors A and B from the head and south tail of the egg chamber, there are also signalling factors emanating from the top and bottom and from the right and left sides of the egg chamber. Concentration gradient ratios from all these factors (and many others) divide the space inside the egg chamber into a complex combinatorial matrix. Every location inside that space receives location-specific data, which regulate gene expression inside the cells that come to occupy that location.
But wait, there's more! Cells within the differentiating embryo also produce signalling factors. So, once the fertilized egg is expelled from the egg chamber, it continues to develop and differentiate according to God's exquisitely designed body plan/life plan software specific to that organism.

Dr. Anderson was recently inducted into Logos Research Associates as a research scientist. Chris Rupe, (B.S., Biology), a Logos Research Ambassador, described the culmination of four years intense research in the field of Paleoanthropology - his new book, "Contested Bones," co-authored with Geneticist, Dr. John Sanford. Chris is currently a graduate student at Loma Linda University, studying Geology.
New fossil discoveries are being made all the time. These new finding are often promoted to the world as compelling evidence for ape-to-man evolution. [Incidentally, the most strident evolutionary claims are usually made by a very small cast of self-promoting fossil hunters, darlings of the pseudo-scientific media!] Meanwhile, the actual experts in the field (called paleoanthropologists) dispute almost every major claim that is made, including the ancestral status of "Lucy" and the latest findings such as Australopithecus sediba and Homo naledi. Unfortunately, the full controversy is not being widely communicated to students and the general public. Does the fossil record actually reveal an ape-to-man progression? Why haven't we been told the full story of these hotly contested bones?
Paleoanthropology hijacked! By the late 1970's, the ape-to-man story was in disarray. Such paleoanthropologist luminaries as Mary and Richard Leaky, Time White, and Donald Johanson had published findings that anatomically modern humans coexisted with the southern apes who were supposed to their ancestors! But then Tim White and Donald Johanson contrived a new story, renaming Leaky's fossils and consolidating a single new species from previously distinguished apes and humans - Australopithecus afarensis - "Lucy." Dramatic differences between the two types of bones were explained away as extreme sexual dimorphism, the tenancy of males and females to exhibit different features. Anatomically human bones were said to be males of the species, while smaller bones with apish features were said to be females! Next, White and Johanson re-dated all the previously discovered human fossils, dropping their ages by nearly half, in order to support the illusion that humans had evolved from earlier ape ancestors.

A SIMPLE EXPERIMENT

- Find your friends' positions on Google Maps, and note the latitudes and longitudes of their locations.
- Send your friends plans for making a simple astrolabe - a straight edge to site along, attached to an upside-down protractor with a length of string attached to the center of the protractor, and a small free-hanging weight attached the other end of the string.
- At a pre-appointed time, simultaneously contact your friends via SKYPE, ZOOM, or other video-conferencing program.
- Ask all your friend to use their astrolabes to measure the angle of inclination to a heavenly body that all can see and readily identify - the North Star, the Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Betelgeuse, etc. Ask each of them to use a magnetic compass to measure the direction to the same heavenly body, relative to North.
- A) Using the data you have collected, explain the differences in measurements reported by your trusted friends as best you can in terms of a flat earth.
B) Using the data you have collected, explain the differences in measurements in terms of a spherical earth.

We watched, "DNA BATTLES - Were Adam & Eve Historical?"
We watched the 59-minute DVD by Evidences Press, "DNA Battles," followed, after a short break, by 19 minutes of bonus features.

The June, 2011 cover article in Christianity Today (CT) lays out several postions for the historicity of Adam and Eve. Francis Collins, director of the National Institutes of Health, started the Biologos Foundations. Biologos is leading the charge for the position that Adam and Eve, if they existed at all, were part of a collective of some 10,000 hominids.
The CT article states, "A Biologos paper by Venema and Falk declares it more flatly: The human population, they say, 'was definitely never as small as two . . . Our species diverged as a population. The data are absolutely clear on that.'"

(Industrial and Management Engineering) spoke on the distinction between empty space, and physical space - the medium through which light shines, particles move, and forces propagate. He also entertained the possibility that the density of space, and therefore the speed at which starships and light might pass through it, may be manipulated.
About our speaker: Mark has a B.S. in mathematics, a master’s degree in theology and worship from Western Seminary, and a master’s degree in industrial and management engineering from Montana State University. Bill Weston, B.A. (English), Author, Lecturer, and Independent Researcher, gave a presentation on the surprising findings of a group of immanent scientists who examined the original Archaeopteryx fossil in the British Museum, up close and personal.
In 1983, six scientists, (Fred Hoyle, R.S. Watkins, N.C. Wickramasinghe, J. Watkins, R. Rabilizirov, and L.M. Spetner), went to the London Museum and carefully studied and photographed the primary feathered specimen of Archeopteryx that had been purchased by the British Museum in 1861. When the direction of their investigation became apparent, the Museum stopped cooperating, denied permission to conduct definitive tests, and withdrew the specimen from further scientific scrutiny.
Interestingly, Colin Patterson, senior principle scientific officer in the department of paleontology of the British Museum, went on record as questioning the authenticity of this fossil.

Scientists at the site allowed Bill to examine fossils first hand, 'up close and personal'. Bill's research led him to publish in both Christian and secular publications, challenging evolutionary storytelling about the origin of tar pit fossils .
Since then, Bill has focused his research and analytic skills on several questions of interest to Bible-believing Christians in the areas of paleontology and history.

"HUMAN GENETICS AND THE BIBLE"
Helmut Welke, an Ambassador of Logos Research Associates, spoke on 'Human Genetics and the Bible'. This was a fascinating and dynamic PowerPoint presentation on DNA including some very recent findings and how they relate to mutations. This talk is for the average layperson. It explains the impact the Fall and curse of sin has had on our genome - which is clearly illustrated in modern genetics.
About our speaker: Helmut Welk is a recently retired engineering manager with a Fortune 200 company. He holds BS and MS degrees in industrial engineering from the University of Illinois and has held positions in a variety of national and international assignments. He is a certified engineering manager, and in 2006 was elected to the board of trustees of IIE – an international society serving the Industrial and Systems Engineering profession. In 2012 he was honored as a “Fellow” of the IIE society.
Helmut is also president of the Quad-City Creation Science Association. Founded in 2008, they are dedicated to telling the truth in science education. He is a member of the Creation Research Society and has recently been named an Ambassador/Speaker for Logos Research Associates.
In recent years Helmut has become a popular speaker on Creation Science topics as well as Atheism and Intelligent Design. He has spoken to churches, youth groups, on college campuses and to civic organizations throughout the Midwest USA, but also in France, Germany and Poland.

Examples of Regenerative Medicine include Stem Cell & PRP (Patelet-Rich Plasma) therapies, and Therapeutic Lasers and their use in treating and healing the creatures of God's creation with light!
About our speakers: Dr. Gay Zambrona is a 1991 graduate of the Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine. She fulfilled an externship at the London Zoo. She has been practicing full-time small animal and exotics medicine in the Long Beach/West Orange County area since 1991. She has also held part-time clinical and consulting positions in laboratory animal medicine for 15 years. Husband Dan Zambrano has a B.S. in Marine Biology from Cal State Long Beach. He is a Licensed Registered Veterinary Technician. He has worked at Cabrillo Aquarium, the Los Angeles Harbor Dept., California State Fish & Game Dept., and the L.A. Zoo before partnering in the mobile veterinary practice with his wife.
Both Dan and Gay are Ordained Pastors in the Free Methodist Church. They love teaching and preaching the Word of God to people of ALL AGES. They have worked with students from 4th & 5 th graders, through High School, College, and beyond!
